Our aims.

Set in the beautiful surroundings of Market Lavington sharing the site with St Barnabas Primary School. The Pre-School enjoys strong links with both the Primary School and the local community. The Pre-School has had excellent OFSTED reports and we pride ourselves on our community-run, welcoming and above all child - friendly group.

Our aim is to enhance the development and education of children under statutory school age in a parent involving, community - based group. We provide a safe, secure and stimulating environment within a framework which ensures equality of opportunity for all children and families.

About Us.

The school is a charitable organisation run by an elected committee which ensures the major decision making process is in the hands of the parents. The committee is elected each year at our Annual General Meeting held in June. All Parents/Carers are invited and encouraged to join the committee.

In 1996, with the help of many parents and local villagers, enough money was raised to provide us with our own well-equipped mobile next to St. Barnabas Primary School. There are two classrooms, one for creative and indeed messy play - painting, glueing, water and sand. The other for make believe play, book reading, puzzles and using the computer. The Pre-School also has a usefully equiped kitchen where children can participate in assisted cooking. In addition there is a cloakroom and of course toilets and wash hand basins set at child height to encourage good habits of hygenie.

Outside there is a generously sized enclosed play area with climbing frame, slides, a roadway for ride-on toys and even a Tellytubby style hillock. The Pre-School also has its own mini garden, again to encourage children's understanding of their natural environment.
